Mighty Oregano
Today we're going to talk about Oregano. This is an amazing and powerful essential oil. Science Daily reported on a study done by Georgetown University Medical Center stating, "Two studies have shown that oregano oil—and, in particular, carvacrol, one of oregano’s chemical components—appear to reduce infection as effectively as traditional antibiotics" (sciencedaily.com). This could be a very powerful weapon against strains of bacteria that have become antibiotic resistant. Why? Because drug resistance does not develop against naturally occurring antibiotics.
The best part is that oil of Oregano is more than just an anti-bacterial powerhouse. It is also anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antioxidant, anti-parasitic, antiseptic, anti-viral, anti-candida, and a disinfectant.
Here are a few ideas for use, but this is just a fraction of the possibilities....
Dilute and rub on the bottoms of feet to boost immunity.
Use in cooking to replace dried herbs.
Diluted with water in a spray bottle to be used as a surface spray.
Garggled with water to sooth a sore throat.
Use diluted to remove warts and skin tags.
